When it comes to a student, they are expected to be more focused on their studies. Most of us want to be super productive and want to achieve more in less time.

Guess what, we all have only 24 hours a day. We got the same number of hours each day. So how are we supposed to get extra productivity from the same 24 hours?

We all want to study more in less time. Since the number of hours in a day is fixed so it's sure that we can’t increase it but we can increase our productivity so that we can learn more in less time and the main habit to induce within us is to learn to Focus.

Do many students ask me about how I prepared for the entrance exam while focusing on my regular college study? 

The answer is simple: I used my time effectively. One may ask now, how to manage time effectively? So, in this post, I will be sharing a method for time management called the Pomodoro Technique.

Created in the 1980s by Francesco Cirillo, the Pomodoro Technique is one of the more popular time management life hacks used today.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Method is a time management philosophy that aims to provide the user with maximum focus and creative freshness, thereby allowing them to complete projects faster with less mental fatigue.

The process is simple:

If you are doing any work then do it for 25 minutes, take a break for 5-7 minutes and then start again. Also after doing it for 4 to 5 times, take a break of 15-20 minutes to recover.

One may ask several questions like, why does this always work? Why only 25 minutes? What if I don’t want to do it for even 25 minutes too?

Why does this work?

A study published in the journal Cognition concludes short breaks help keep your attention span on track. 

The study lead and psychology professor at the University of Illinois, Alejandro Lleras explained that the mind tunes out after working consistently on one project. 

In his words, “When faced with long tasks (such as studying before a final exam or doing your taxes), it is best to impose brief breaks on yourself. Brief mental breaks will actually help you stay focused on your task!

Many kinds of research show that when we are doing work, the first 25 minutes(approx) is the period when we are most focused on it.

Even if you are not focused, working for 25 minutes and in return rewarding yourself with 5-7 minutes of relaxation, makes your mind to focus with the same intensity again.

Why only 25 minutes?

The ideal time may deviate from person to person. Like, when I started to use this method, I was not able to focus for more than 15 minutes.

But, with regular practice, I increased it to 45 minutes in a single session. Also, when you are doing your work in that time slot, put your smartphone in flight mode or silent so that you can’t be disturbed.

Also, try to find a calm and undisturbed place where no one can distract you. You are just kinda alone with complete control over your time and actions.

What if I don’t want to do it for even 25 minutes too?

If initially, you are not able to focus on your task for even 25 minutes then do the following steps:

1. Sit and think that you only want to study 5 minutes and after that, you will take a break and during those 5 minutes, you will put your full attention to your work or study.

2. While studying for 5 minutes you often end up with more time. 

3. Now after 5 or more minutes, relax a little bit and then start over with add

4. Reward yourself with some good music, comedy video or a 2 minutes walk after completing those time limits.


Remember, with focus you can improve your productivity and can excel in any area of your life. 

If you practice distraction daily, you will be an expert in distracting yourself. But, if you will practice focus and patience then you can easily focus on any occasion.
